MacOS10.14から10.15に変わって、自分が特に便利だと思っている点がありました。
猫か動物の愛称から離れてから、コードネームは覚えなくなりましたね。
（使っているカメラはこれです。その1、その2 いずれも同じカメラです）
10.14では、コンデジから取り込んだ動画ファイル拡張子AVIがiMacに取り込んで再生ができないのです。
そのためAVIファイルをいったんiMovieに取り込んで編集してからMP4にして取り出してみていました。
多分写真.appが再生をカバーする拡張子の範囲外だったのでしょう。
それが、10.14→10.15になって、写真.appに取り込んでみたら動画がすぐに再生できました。
それだけ進化しているのです。
32ビット→64ビットになって、この点は便利になりました。
AVIがiMacでも再生できた。
