LINE上に繋がってるMac mini Server
Mac mini Server（10.6.8）が2010年購入でだいぶ古くなったし、
これはその前にMac miniを買ってそれにMac OS X Server(OS)をインストールしようとして
こけてしまったので、アップルに相談したら、
もう少しするとプリインストールされたMac mini Server(ハードのほうのサーバー)が
販売されるのでそちらを買った方が良いのではないか?
と言うアドバイスを受けたのでMac mini Serverを買いました。

メモリ4 GB 1067MHz 起動ディスクMacintosh HD ）
このタイプはハードディスクが2つ載っていて500ギガバイト× 2と言うこともあって、
サーバーとして(ファイルサーバーとして)容量があるので便利なように見えますが、
アップルスクリプトで他のiMacから見ようとするとハードディスクを指定するのに
起動ディスクを特定できなくて困ることがありました。
なので自分としてはシングルでディスク容量の大きいのほうがよかったのですが。
それで機械的には古くなったし、(OSXサーバーの) OSは
新しいものは出ていないようなので、そのままOSX Serverを扱ったものが
中古で売っているだろうからそれを買ってSSDに交換してからデータを移し替えるかなと思って、
メルカリで探してみました。
そうするとMac mini Serverで検索してみると何点かヒットしました。
2万5000円から60,000円程度まで5、6個見つかり、
安いものから順に検索して見てみるとMac mini Serverと製品名に
テキストで書いてありますが本体のラベル写真を見ると、
また、ウインドウのスクリーンショットなどを見てもMacOS Serverとは書いていません。
ハード的にサーバーでも、ソフト的にサーバーでないとクライアントから
(iMac)ファイルサーバーとして使うのに使えないこともあしませんが
検索機能とファイルを見に行くときの速さが(これは自分の予想ですが)
遅くて使えないのではないかと自分の経験則から思う。
さほどたくさんのデータがありませんがNASでもいいのでしょうが、
それにしては少し不満が残ります。
アップルのサイトを検索しているうちに、OS (MacOS Server)が安い値段で売っていますが
最新よりサーバでないOS、今はビックサーか、より下は2つまでならインストールできるらしいです。
PCカルマネットによると、
MacOS 11.0 ビッグサー
MacOS 10.15 キャタリナ
macOS 10.14 モハベ
この10.14までならインストールできるらしい。
「MacOSX Server ダウンロード」で検索した結果、アップルのサイトで、説明によると

MacOSサーバをインストールする。
MacアプリストアからMacOS X Serverをダウンロードしてインストールすることで、
MacOS 10.14.4がインストールされているMacからサーバーを作成できます。
手順に従ってMacをサーバにする前に次の項目を確認してください:
・MacOSサーバーの要件を確認します。
・サーバーのインターネットホスト名を登録します。
・ MacOS Serverのデータを保存する場所を検討します。
と言うふうに説明がありました。
まだ詳細には確認していませんが、
アップルのサーバーにアクティベーション(登録)をしないと使えないようにするみたいです。
Mac App Storeを見てみるとMacOS Serverが2440円になっています。
以前と比べてずいぶん安くなったような気がする。
と、ここまでいろいろ調べ物をしていて、結局そのデータを見に行くのは
自分1人だけだから別にハード的にサーバーでもソフト的にサーバーでもなくても
差し支えないのではないかと言う実もふたもない結論になりました。
読み書きが早い最新世代の外部SSDディスクをLAN上でもUSBでもつないで
それを覗けばいいわけで、外部ディスクがあれば充分かなと言うことになってしまった。
それが1番値段が安い。（大笑）
